Goodman Jones start Business Monitor Online with Twinfield

20/12/2005 00:00:00

The well respected, London based accounting practice Goodman Jones has just signed as the UK’s first user of the Twinfield Online Accounting service.  Twinfield is the no. 1 Online Accounting solution in the Netherlands, and has been launched in the UK by collaboration solutions specialist D²C.  Goodman Jones has launched Business Monitor Online, powered by Twinfield, to enhance their service and attract new clients as the backbone of a new approach.

Twinfield is an international web service for real-time accounting, project, hours and expenses recording, reporting, budgeting, credit management, salary data and billing. Although designed to be easy to use for small businesses, the service is particularly suitable for (international) organisations working in multiple languages and currencies. Users can log into the Twinfield system from anywhere at any time via a secure Internet connection (128-bit encrypted). All they need is a basic PC, a web browser, and Internet access. Unlike some competitor solutions that use older client server technology with products like Citrix, Twinfield’s services have been entirely designed and developed from the ground up for use over the Internet. They are only available online, 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. Customers pay a fixed subscription per user per month, based on the type of rights the user has on the system. Twinfield’s web service has been certified for accounting purposes by a big-5 consulting firm.

Goodman Jones have extensive experience of collaborating with their clients using the popular, traditional software packages over Virtual Private Networks, but they have been held back by the limitations of the older technology.  Philip Woodgate, the partner responsible for the firm's Business Systems department, said “We have been looking for a truly online, web based approach for some time.  The beauty of Twinfield is that everyone has secure access to the same data in real time.  The clients can enter their records and get at reports more easily, and we can add value with better management information and accounting support.  Using Twinfield we can truly collaborate with the client and focus on the present rather than the past. Unlike other products we’ve worked with, the more we use and get to know Twinfield the more we like it, and get ideas on how we can use it to help the clients.”

Larry Phillips, Goodman Jones managing partner, said “We are impressed with both the product, and the Twinfield support team.  We are already operational with our first client, and we have initiated a comprehensive plan to use the new approach to attract new clients.  With this sort of solution everybody wins. The client gets a better service, and the accountant can spend less time as a bookkeeper and more time as a business advisor.”

David Terrar, Managing Director of D²C, said “Twinfield’s Software as a Service concept is the way to go for small and medium businesses, and their accountant advisors. As soon as a company has a few PCs and traditional accounting software, like Sage or Quickbooks, somebody in the organisation needs to take on all of the responsibilities, complexities and hassles of the IT Manager. With Twinfield they get a world class accounting solution, the accountant has easy access for both compliance and advice, and somebody else takes on the IT headache of managing software upgrades, worrying about data backups or disaster recovery planning. Those issues are removed for both the client and the accountant, and you avoid all of the data and software version problems of exchanging files which came with the old software based approach.”  These have been the key ingredients which have meant that 6 out of the 10 largest accounting practices and bookkeeping companies in the Netherlands, such as BDO, ABAB, and LTB, have adopted the Twinfield approach.
